"I won't pay back bad with bad," Julia Barretto says, admitting to feeling "crucified" by haters.
Crucified. This is how the actress, Julia Barretto, described her feeling every time her bashers would spite her with hurtful words.
It's known to the public that Julia has been chastised by some netizens because of her relationship with Gerald Anderson after they publicly admit their relationship - 2 days after their successive birthday.
On March 10, 2021, Wednesday, a Youtube Vlog Celebrity, BJ Pascual had featured these statements from Julia herself.
It's not clear if the video was taken before or after the couple publicized their relationship.
According to Julia, she only has one take when it comes to her bashers.
She seldomly responded to the hate she received in the past.
Julia stated, "Hindi ako mapagpatol. Pero kapag may nagko-cross na ng line, I will answer.
"But never in a bastos way.
"I won't pay back bad with bad. I believe paying back good sa bad.
"Fight the good fight of faith, di ba, sabi sa Bible?"
Julia also make sure that she responded to her bashers accordingly.
"I'm always hoping for the best for them every time I reply. It's always, like, 'I'll pray for you. I hope your heart is at peace," she added.
"Kasi, for you to be talking to me this way, you must be going through something.
"Kasi kung at peace ka, masaya ka, kung di ka bitter, you'll not talk to anybody that way."
She elaborated, "I kinda look at it, maybe they're not okay. Maybe there's something they wanna improve in their lives or change in their life na hindi pa nagbabago.
"I just don't wanna judge also because I know what it's like to be judged."
Being in the spotlight
Being judged by the public is not new to her, since she grew in a family of artists.
Her father, Dennis Padilla, is a comedian while her mother, Marjorie Barretto, was an actress.
Two of her aunt, Gretchen, and Claudine Barretto, were also actresses.
Julia continued, "The older that I'm getting, the older I am in the business because I started out at six years old...
"And being in a family, well, you know, a lot of them have been in the spotlight for so many years, and growing up in the spotlight also...
"Whether you do good or something bad, people will have something to say.
"So keep going. Keep doing good."
Sticking to "WHAT MATTERS"
Julia also learned to give importance t the opinion of people who truly matter to her and not to stranger's opinions.
"I'm slowly starting to realize how important it is to compartmentalize things—what matters and what doesn't matter.
"So sometimes if it's the opinion from people who don't have a significant role in your life and really don't matter to you, who you don't even know, I'm never gonna be affected by it.
"Because you don't know me. I don't know you. We can't judge each other. It's just not possible."
