The viral video of Ivana Alawi was showered with praises and hate.
She portrayed herself being a beggar with the intention that whoever give her alms would receive a reward.
According to Atty. Libayan on his Youtube Channel called BatasNatin, Ivana violated a law by doing this.
Atty. Libayan explained to his viewers the precepts of the law violated by Ivana, asking for alms and offering a reward in return to whoever give her alms.
According to Atty. Libayan, Ivana violated the Anti-mendicancy law, a law penalizing such an act since it promotes almsgiving.
The Atty. added that it's a good trait to help other people but it should not be in violation of law especially against it.
After Atty. explained the law, a lot of netizens expressed their opinion and disapproval for what the Atty. said.
However, Atty. argued that he is based on the law and not a mere opinion base on feelings.
Atty Libayan also answered in his video why she chose Ivana's video for his content knowing that a lot of vloggers has been doing this act.
Atty responded that with Ivana's number of followers, a lot of people may be influenced in doing the same violation thinking it's okay.
