Most of the celebrities are living their lives to the fullest with the money they earned from the showbiz industry. However, there are still some celebrities who flunked in the showbiz industry and became penurious. Fallen stars, as netizens claimed.

John Lloyd Cruz


John Lloyd Cruz was born on June 24, 1983, the youngest among his siblings. At the age of fourteen, he became a celebrity under ABS CBN’s Star Magic. He was a member of Koolits including Baron Geisler and Mark Solis. He had many TV series, commercials, and movies like Tabing Ilog (1999) which was actually his first movie, Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay (2002) with Bea Alonzo, You Changed My Life (2009) with Sarah Geronimo, and many more. 

All of his fans were flabbergasted when he left the showbiz industry in the year 2017 and chose to live in Cebu City as a simple citizen with his former live-in partner, Ellen Adarna, who conceived and had Elias. Their relationship ended after two years. Later on, many photos and videos were uploaded on social media about John Lloyd’s poverty-stricken life in Cebu. He was seen in a cockfighting arena, talking with a barangay captain in Cebu, and the biggest changes in his physique. It was really far from what he was before. Some netizens said that he became really poor, and some said that it was John Lloyd’s choice to live simply. However, in May 2020, a picture was publicized. It was a photo of John Lloyd with some citizens who were in a barangay to get a barangay certificate as one of the requirements for him to go back to Manila. With his showbiz comeback, his fans are wishing for Lloyd’s career to soar back high. 

Rustom Padilla


He was a matinee idol due to his undeniable handsomeness and potential in acting. He is the older brother of Robin Padilla and they were together in the movie Mistah (1994). He was married to Carmina Villaroel, but later on, separated. After that, he went to America to study and become a director, however, not long enough, he went back to the Philippines and joined the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition. Inside Kuya’s house, he revealed that he is homosexual. After that show, Rustom disappeared like a bubble. Then, years after, he was back in the picture and shocked everyone with his changes. From Rustom Padilla, he is now a woman and called BB Gandang Hari. He had few projects and because of that, he decided to go back to America. Robin Padilla revealed that BB Gandang Hari is now a Grab driver in the United States, and also started vlogging.

Jiro Manio


He firstly starred in the movie Magnifico (2003) and received many awards. He started his career in Star Magic year 1999 but was ejected in the year 2009 due to his unprofessional behavior. He transferred to GMA Network, but his career collapsed when he became a drug addict and teenage father at the age of fifteen. 

He followed his manager’s persuasion to go to a rehabilitation center. However, on June 15, 2015, he was seen wandering on the streets of NAIA Terminal 3 and asking for food from the staff. With the video posted, many showered blessings towards him including Ms. Ai Ai Delas Alas. He is now working in a carinderia. Unfortunately, sad news came in last January 17, 2020. He was arrested in Marikina City for stabbing a man.

Deborah Sun


The Clan of Salvador is popular in showbiz industry such as Philip Salvador, Maja Salvador, Janella, Salvador, and Jean Louise Porcuna Salvador known as Deborah Sun. She appeared in some series like Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig, Pakawalan Mo Ako, and Temptation Island. She went through many controversies like having a baby when she was just fourteen years old. In 1989, she was forced to travel to the US when she was linked with illegal drugs, and the same year, she was accused of estafa by Lorna Tolentino.  She went back to the Philippines in 2004 and was jailed due to a bouncing check violation. She was not imprisoned for a long time since she had a conditional pardon. However, in 2019, she was again captured together with her daughter, Angela Salvador, Gerald De Guzman, and Gonzalo Gonzales, by the police through a buy-bust operation in Quezon City. They were charged with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002 and imprisoned until now.

John Regala


He is a famous villain and known as a bad boy in action movies. He earned awards s including the  2011 Metro Manila Film Fest as Best Supporting Character in the movie Manila Kingpin, The Asiong Salonga Story. His spotlight faded when he was deeply involved in illegal drugs and later on went to a rehabilitation center. After his long showbiz rest, he became an environmentalist and worked as a president and CEO of the Green Evolution Inc. project. After that, he once again went into a predicament. He was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in August 2002. Recently, a photo of him was uploaded to social media. Far from his masculine and bad boy image before, he grew thinner now. According to him, he has had no contact with any of his relatives since his mother died. With this, blessings were showered to him especially from Nadia Montenegro, Chuckie Dreyfus, and Aster Amoyo. However, in the latter part, the three released a statement that they will no longer support John financially for being uncooperative, ambiguous to talk with, and for overdrinking his medicine.
