TIKTOK HIT: A man returns a lost phone and gets arrested after it.
After a guy recovered a TikToker's phone, he was jailed for reportedly extorting money in exchange for her missing device.
Jhon Michael Cuizon, Hazel Edep's boyfriend, said in a Facebook post that the latter misplaced her phone when they traveled to Divisoria on July 14.
He claimed they tried unsuccessfully to reach Hazel's phone number. Cuizon subsequently received a message from a man notifying her that her phone had been stolen and requesting compensation in exchange for the lost item.
Cuizon went on to claim that they gave the guy P7,000 as a prize, but he allegedly declined and demanded P50,000 instead.
He went on to say that the man had even threatened Hazel.
Cuizon said they requested support from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), who carried out an entrapment operation when they set up a meeting with the man who returned the TikToker's phone, out of concern for Hazel's safety.
Angelito Martin was detained by CIDG for robbery and extortion.
Prior to Cuizon's Facebook post, a woman named Amor Amor Martin expressed disappointment at her brother's detention, a tricycle driver who had recently been released from the hospital after suffering a minor stroke.
Amor asked for aid on social media to free Angelito, stating that her younger brother had no bad intentions and would be grateful for any amount of money as a prize, which he could use to buy medicine.
Mahabaging DIYOS," she added.
Hazel, whose TikTok handle queenluvs14 has over 10 million followers, has made her account private and has yet to respond to the situation.
