"Hindi na raw ako nakakatawa." -Bearwin Meily when asked why he is no longer active in showbiz.
Bearwin Meily, a 45-year-old comedian, has retired from show business and now sells corn dogs.
But, before deciding to start a corn dog company, he tried his hand at a variety of other jobs.
"Nawala yung pag-aartista kasi payat na daw ako. Hindi na daw ako nakakatawa," he said in the GMA Public Affairs docu-series Tunay na Buhay , June 16, 2021 episode.
At Home Sweetie Home, Bearwin joined John Lloyd Cruz.
Bearwin had no trouble accepting this reality.
"So, e, di sige, cinematic yan, e. OkEy, gusto nila mataba, nawala iyon."
BEARWIN’S ENDEAVOURS APART FROM SHOWBIZ
He said that an opportunity opened up for him: "Binless ako ni God into sports organizing.
"I think more than 10 years [of] organizing basketball leagues, marathon, fun runs, and the sports apparel."
He also allegedly entered motivational speaking.
"Subukan nating mag-serve kay God. So, I’m into motivational-speaking. Nagsi-speak ako sa church."
He said that in Taytay, he was able to create his ideal home for his family and make numerous friends.
"Nakaipon ako. Nagkaroon ako ng bahay. It was a dream house. That was one year and a half pa lang nung tinayo iyon tuwang-tuwa ako.
"We all celebrated."
In 2019, he entered politics and ran as councilor in his hometown, but he was not successful.
"Natira ako dito sa Taytay, nakilala ko lahat ng kaibigan ko.
"Tumakbo akong konsehal. Eight yung kailangan na councilors, pang-nine ako. Isa na lang. Natalo ako dun. Okey lang."
Bearwin had difficulties getting paid after losing the election since he was still paying for his dream house.
"So, in short wala pa kaming maisip na business. Hindi namin mabayaran yung bahay.
"Kahit ayaw naming ibenta, masakit sa amin, binenta namin. Why? Because we let go and we let God."
The property was sold in 2019.
"Sabi namin, ‘Lord, ibenta namin ‘to. Ikaw na po'ng bahala.’"
What transpired was believed to be a gift in disguise, since the pandemic had struck and they were quarantined.
"Nagkaroon kami ng konting savings. Sino magsasabi na magla-lockdown?
"Yun yung, ‘There is winning in losing.’ Kaya pala niya in-allow iyon. It’s because para meron kaming pangkain every day.
BUSINESS OF CORN DOGS
Bearwin is only a few months into his corn dog company.
"Paubos na ang aming savings. ‘Lord, anong business ang puwede naming gawin?’ ‘Food. Why not?’
"So, we started food: Corny Doggy," pagtukoy sa pangalan ng kanyang negosyo.
"Dito ako dinala ng Diyos.
"If we work, we work. But if we pray, God works.
"So, everything went smooth."
"Kung hindi namin nabenta yung bahay, na-lockdown kami, wala kaming kakainin."
He stated that his company's stand had only been up for two months.
Bearwin and his family manage the store from start to finish, including opening, cooking, and closing.
But the most significant lesson Bearwin took away from all of these adventures was that he had discovered God.
"Nakita ko na yung sobrang yaman namin, nakita ko na yung sadsad namin.
"At most importantly, bukod dun sa yaman at hirap namin, nakita ko na kung gaano kabuhay ang Diyos sa akin.
"I love embracing challenges kasi diyan ako natututo.
"Every day is a lesson, every week there is a test or an examination.
"So, every day, whether you like it or not, someone, somebody, like a teacher here on earth, and coming from God, will teach you something."
