Julia celebrated her 24th birthday last Wednesday, March 10 receiving a short but sweet birthday message from the actor.
Gerald posted on his Instagram account a photo of Julia with her arms raised while on the beach. He captioned, "Happy birthday [heart emoji] #youareablessing"

After a few hours, Gerald's post garnered a thousand comments including negative comments.
Netizens commented on a great difference between Julia's message to Gerald and Gerald's birthday message to Julia.
According to the comments, compared to the expressive and lengthy message of Julia, the actor had a short and stiff message in exchange.
In Julia's greeting to Gerald, on March 7, the actress posted a picture of her being kissed by Gerald.
In the caption of Julia's birthday message to Gerald, she said, “Every day I celebrate you, but today I am extra grateful Happy birthday my love, I am SO PROUD OF YOU.”
In relation to Gerald's birthday greeting to Julia, the netizens called it "stiff" and "dry".
A lot expressed disappointment on the short caption of Gerald for Julia. Some netizens said that the actor did not bother using "I love you” or “I’m proud of you,” like what the actress did.

In an exclusive interview of Gerald Anderson by Boy Abunda, where Gerald admitted his relationship with Julia, the actor responded to the hate that he has been receiving.
According to Gerald, he felt like a private person in a very public job.
He already knows that not all people like him. He said, “I’ve come to terms with it na parang kahit na gaano kadami kong trabaho, gaano [karaming] naniniwala, meron ding hindi maniniwala, meron din yung may aayaw sa ’yo.”
He added, “Whatever I’ll say sa interview na ‘to, will not magically make my bashers or haters love me or understand me.”
He also pressed that it's not his goal to do things that his bashers and haters would hate upon.
The actor said,“Umabot sa point na parang, ‘What’s new? Okay. I’ve heard everything.’”
Gerald believes that he was bashed due to his controversial love life.
But according to the actor, he will not reveal nor share details about this personal part of his life now.
As he claimed, even if he shared or not, there will be bashers and haters who would comment against him.
“I’m controversial. I’m bashed because of my personal life and my love life.
“It’s something na parang hindi ko rin naman ise-share yung intimate details about my life or yung ginagawa natin sa bahay natin.
“Ive come to terms with it na parang maba-bash at maba-bash tayo.”
