Derek Ramsay gets back on the acting industry with colleagues Max Collins and Carla Abellana in a GMA-7 drama Series.
One-week lock-in taping will take place after the Holy Week this year.
But as early as now, Derek, the Kapuso Actor had already decided that after this contract with the GMA-7, he would not do any television appearances.
He clarified, during an interview with DZRH last March 5, Friday, "Siguro, sa pelikula na lang ako mag-concentrate kesa sa TV.”
His contract with GMA-7 would end a year and a half from now and he reiterated being okay with having one or two movies a year.
“Gusto ko na mag-umpisa ng pamilya, gusto ko nang pasukin yung next chapter.
“Alam nyo naman na hindi ko kayang gawin iyon kung wala ako sa showbiz.
“Iyon ang i-prioritize ko. I really want to start a family and move into the next chapter in my life,” said Derek.
Right now, he cannot say if it's Ellen who he'll bring to the altar but he is insistent on having a family the very reason he opted to have lesser work.
Derek is excited about this current drama series since it's very different from the usual role that he plays in the movies or tv series.
This is a story of a guy who unconditionally loves a girl, was hurt but learned to forgive.
“Parang sobrang bigat para sa lalaki ang teleserye na ‘to,” Derek said.
“Sa totoong buhay kasi, lagi na lang ang lalaki ang may kasalanan… ang babae ang nadedehado sa isang hiwalayan.
“Maraming nangyayari rin na ang lalaki ang hiniwalayan ng babae, ang pinagtaksilan ng babae at sobra silang nasaktan.
“Gusto naming ipakita sa teleseryeng ito na ang lalaki rin ay nasasaktan at marunong ding mag-forgive,” he continued.
Derek with Ex-girlfriend
Andrea Torres, a Kapuso talent, is known to be Derek's ex-girlfriend. And Derek said he is open to the possibility to work with Andrea knowing that they are in the same network.
“No problem for me," Derek claimed.
Sakaling magkita sila sa GMA o saan mang pagtitipon, hindi raw siya iiwas kundi kakausapin daw niya ang dating kasintahan.
“Wala akong problema. Pag nakita ko si Andrea sa GMA, hindi ako yung tipong iikot at tatakbo. Babati ako.
“May respeto ako sa kanya, naging parte siya ng buhay ko. Hindi ako bastos.
“I will approach and say hi, that’s the right thing to do.
“If she’s off, siyempre hindi ko na itutulak na makipagtsikahan. Kasi, siyempre, irespeto mo naman yung space ng tao.
“Pero as a man, you should acknowledge her, you should say hello, you should say hi, di ba?” he concluded.
